The Story Behind the Design

I've often said that Guillermo del Toro, Studio Ghibli, and H.R. Giger are my holy trinity of artistic inspiration.

Giger is a part of that largely because he’s the first artist I remember learning had his feet in both the art world and the world of film.

As a young teenager trying to figure out what her place in the world might be, this was a paradigm shift that changed the way I looked at both art and pop culture.

I don’t have the chutzpah to claim I’ll ever be anywhere close to a master like Giger, but I think of him in those rare moments I question the value of digging my hands into clay and shaping it to my design, of my being an artist at all.

The world is a different place because of Giger — a man who didn’t fit neatly into one box.

Maybe in some small way, I can help make the world a different place too.
